Seiichi Saito named media director of Roppongi Art Night 2015.

Rhizomatiks Architecture created two interactive art truck installations – “Akebono” featuring colossal disco balls and “Hal” equipped with 800 lantern LEDs – controlled by participants.

“Akebono” stopped off at three locations – Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown, and The National Art Center – with live performances by Hifana and a cast of other prominent artists. “Hal” showcased interaction technology, collecting messages sent from participant’s smart phones and mixing with Roppongi’s public data before visualizing the result on a lantern LED array display.

Furthermore, at the iconic Roppongi Crossing, the “heart and soul” of Roppongi was visualized in the “ROPPONGI DATA OF MIND” project. In the Tokyo of five years or even decades from now, what methods will exist to use art as a medium to express the composition of this city? This experimental project combined city, art, and technology to call into question what Tokyo might become in the future.
